It’s Been…
…Weddings Galore!!
This Summer and Fall have brought wedding after wedding, and adventure
after adventure… I’ve shot in California, Florida, Arizona, Illinois, Georgia,
Tennessee, and many places in between! It really has been a blessing to me, but I figured that for it to be complete I
really SHOULD share it with youYou know, it’s funny really… My sleep cycle has been fairly good so far this
Fall, but for some reason catching the late flight into LAX from South Florida
last night has left it all messed up, I’m still awake!!But, enough of my frivolous explanations, let’s get on with the stories!!
Where to start though?
Hmmm….
A Few Months Ago:I got a call from Ingrid Joy, who is one of Scott Roberts protege’s and an
incredible artist in her own right. She asked if I could help her shoot a
wedding up in Long Beach on short notice, and as the weekend was
open and I was already on the West Coast I couldn’t help but agree. We arrived at the wedding parties hotel in plenty of time to capture their
getting ready, and we had an absolute blast doing so!I really enjoyed working with Ingrid too, she has a fantastic eye for posing,
and was truly entertaining as she worked with the Bride and Groom.
Ten points for you Ingrid! And now… For my favorite part; the pictures!
“Hanky Panky”
Many thanks to the marvelous Canon 85mm F1.2L for making
many of these images possible…. I love you.
“One For The Ladies”
“Preparations…”
There was a lot of giggling going on…(I know the water bottle doesn’t belong, and I have several images
from after Ingrid removed it, but this one was just too genuine to
pass up!)
Of course…. The Cake! The wedding was held in a beautiful Japanese garden, that really
left everyone glowing… It was lovely!
“Serenity”
A Rose Like No Other…..When I spotted those roses, I just couldn’t resist!
Lovely, eh?As the time for the ceremony drew near, the groom waited anxiously
but excited, he was a blast, and a HUGE football fan… They even had
their grand entrance to the Super Bowl theme!
Ready…
Steady…
Go….
No really… Go!As beautiful as the ceremony was, the party was equally fun.
This was my first ever Asian wedding, and I’ve got to say, you
guys know how to have fun (and you have some of the most hilarious
dance moves ever, I’m jealous!!).
Food Time..
Portrait Time….Hmmmm I’ve now been awake for about 24 hours so my normal goal
for fluidity in posts is a bit shot, haha… Here’s a couple of images from
other recent weddings
Christian And Melissa DeGeorge in Jupiter, FL… This weekend!
Nathan and Katie Fowler in Atlanta, GA in SeptemberAnd one of my favorite photos from their reception
Over 400 people there, and at least half of them were on the massive
dance floor… The energy was wonderful! There are more, but here’s one of my favorites from Arizona last weekend
And that’s all for me folks… I’ve got to get to sleep, or to work,
or something!! As always, I’d love to know what your favorite
image is, and please don’t hesitate to let me know if I can be
praying for you…When you ask, it encourages my own walk with Him, which
is oh so important, so help me out!Blessings to you and yours

lol @ hanky panky!
Serenity is a great shot btw! It’s one of my faves from your shots so far.
Thanks man… Glad you like it!
The one of the guy wiping his head is awesome.
I love the Hanky Panky one, simply because it is darling. But my fav. is the one with the confetti, falling all around and the joy on the couple’s faces. You have been an incredibly busy person. Breathe…don’t forget to do that. Your work is lovely as always. Thank you for sharing!
Dude, I like them all but the last one REALLY stand out! Good stuff!
wow, you’ve been busy! beautiful images. we’ll have to hook up once we both get a chance to breathe.
Wonderful images….
I think the last one is my favorite.
I like your new profile pic too. How young you look (ARE)! Stop by my site and see my kids in Halloween costumes.
. . .Also, you can pray for my Uncle George. His wife (my Aunt Sue) passed away last week. She was only 61.
Those are the photos people will charish forever! I loved them all!
Very good work!
*hugs*
Wow — you have been busy — I LOVE Serenity — and of the wedding pics, I like Go…
It amazing to see how much you’ve improved just over the last few months…
the last image is my favorite…you nailed the emotion, action and light
(that orange wall really anchors the photography)
Even though I am only 18, and no where near getting married-when I DO, YOU are going to take my pictures.
These are gorgeous.
gorgeous photos!
I love the hanky panky picture as well as the last one with the rose petals! Simply gorgeous!
In regards to prayer request…you could be praying that I finish out this semester well! My life has been crazy busy, and I would just like to finish out this semester strong! Thanks!
great photos eric! as usual, of course
i almost want to get married soon just so that you can take my pictures… silly i know. BUT, if i still can get in contact with you whenever i DO get married… you’ll be the first one i call. just so you know. even though that is years away. lol.
get some sleep!
First gotta say… LOVE your new profile pic! These are awesome moments!!! Your work is getting better and better as the days pass by. I love it! ~ Dawn
oh, i love them all. you have some serious talent!!!
would you happen to know of anyone in Kentucky that does anything like you do??? we need family pictures in a crazy way, but i want something different this time. Let me know! Thanks!!
You pretty much stole the show with my whole “lets go outside to take some portraits really quick” notion…
Sick as a dog, junk all over my room, D200 focus is all over the board, and 4 events to process… Ugh! Good to be alive and have the opportunities that are before me though I guess…
Played with the 50mm f/1.4 AF today at Calumet for a minute to double check my focus errors, and *that* lens front focuses by a considerable amount. Gonna either send in the D200 and get it serviced, and if that doesn’t work then I guess I’ll dump it for a D300, or go Canon, I dunno…
=Matt=
Some of the photos have some focusing problems, but the rest look great. Serenity is just beautiful.
They are all really good! I really like the “go” photo, may sound crazy but it really made me think, and there is something very unique about it!
It was good to receive an update from you, glad to hear you are doing well!
Prayer for me if you don’t mind, just pray that I will have wisdom to know the line between giving my
students grace in letting them not pay and asking for payment… If I
were rich I would give free Sign Language classes…But, I have a few
students that aren’t paying me right now and I don’t want to say
anything, but I probably should… I always, since I started teaching 5 years ago, like to have 1 person in each of my classes that I let take for free. Because, the only S.L. class I ever took, the friend let me take for free, because she knew I couldn’t afford it. So, thus, as a way of tithing with my talents, I like to let 1 student take for free, but it becomes a problem when more than 1 starts not paying. God is good and always meets needs and I have been very blessed with some great students and great bosses. But, as I start teaching, possibly, the biggest class I have ever taught, in GA. I want to have God’s wisdom. Thanks!
What can I be praying for you about?
~Elizabeth
Favorite has to be the last….the confetti and the joy are wonderful. I also like the the bride looking so relaxed and happy on the bed, and serentiy. Hope you get some rest!
Please pray for me to heal…..I am starting a rather stict wellness diet that is supposed to get rid of the inflamation and toxicity in my body, and kick up my metabolism ….been in way too much pain of late and hoping this is what God has led me to for help.
You are invited for Thanksgiving! Hope to see you before then though! Praying for you, Jenny
beautiful as always! 2009,huh? If I *ever* get married, you’re going to be so in demand at that point people will have to book five years in advance
great stuff.
“Hanky Panky” and “Serenity” are just beautiful. In fact, all of them are great! I really enjoy your site and look forward to every new post!
I’ve commented on some of the first few ones before. I do love the expression on the bride’s face in the last shot…definitely well captured, amigo.
Oh, and you wrote “Gride and Groom”. What exactly is a Gride?
great job!!
Ha. That was quick.
they’re all always so good
but i like the last one a lot
good job
Eric…let me know if/when you touch base with jason D at bayareaentertainment.com
or when you’re heading back in that area (SF, CA) I’ll let him know also…I’m sure he’d love to have a photographer of your caliber. He does total event planning (proposals, weddings, parties, etc…).
If you plan on touching base, let him know his VA friend from CA sent you. (message me for further contact info).
i love shoes so im going to say that i like the second picture the best! how have you been by the way?
hey eric! yay, your update is wonderful and i love your photography. you are getting so good! we just got home from colorado tonight. chad and i looked at the updates on blueshoe this morning in colorado before we left. we’re going to order a bunch this week sometime after we decompress from our trip. thank you for updating that as well. so glad things are going so well right now for you!!!!!
p.s. my favortie photo is most definitely the last one, that shot is fantastic!
wow great pics!
hmmmm…favorite has to be “serenity”…majestic. great job mang! as always. if you would like to pray for me, please pray that I see God this week…
peace out bro!
Serenity is my favorite. It is calming just looking at it. Your wedding shots as usual are fantastic. Thanks for posting.
Great stuff there… my love for photography is renewed (Y)!!!
these are the best pictures that you have ever taken! I love the one where you can see the bride and her dad through the trees. It is hard to decide though. They are all great.
love all of them! Excellent detail shots and the last one is lovely!
Wow, you have really hit a whole new level! I really enjoyed the images…hey, are you going to be at Scott Robert’s workshop in LA in December?
Every time I come back to your site you just keep on getting better and better!:)
Great work!
The only thing is, the Fuji S5 Pro is just a Fuji sensor inside a D200 body. So any problem with the D200 body as a whole will be inherent in any Fuji S5 bodies as well, regrettably.
However I’ve talked with Garrick and it sounds to me like the D200 I’ve got is definitely out of line, since he and his buddies all have D200 and D2 series bodies, and they’ve got no errors with the 85mm f/1.4 nor the f/2.8 zooms… So hopefully this is something that can be repaired.
If not, I’d probably be considering Olympus before considering Canon actually, but still a 40D + 17-55 f/2.8 EF-S IS does sound extremely sweet to me…
=Matt=
Wow these are really good, they remind me of the people on that new reality tv show “The shot” its about fashion photogs. I think its sorta a spin off of America’s next top model…only less fabulous.
Nice pictures as usual!
I guess this wedding photo-shooting job gives you pleaure, and this happiness is reflected in those pics!
Keep it up!
That cake shot and pond shot (Serenity) are great. As for the water bottle… leave it in! The clone stamp is the photojournalist’s darkest enemy! =)
As always, beautiful beautiful photography.
It does look like he’s eating it doesn’t it?
Honestly, I can’t say I’m happy. I was just thinking about that picture, so I decided to post it.
Ryc.. I live about 20 minutes outside Scranton PA…. Our claim to fame is that the show the office on TV takes place here, although I think it’s filmed out in California.
What’s up, Aviatorcutie (or however you pronounce your name). what you doing this weekend?
I dunno, I’m kinda sorta open this weekend. Nothing to take pictures of in Socal though.
it is so cool to see your pictures on a fast computer! I love the cake.
Your pictures = WOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
contest on my site…you’ve been nominated.
Beautiful images! Love the details!!
Thanks! Awesome pics as usual
I just got a no-name tripod: Vanguard MG-5. I needed a pod asap, so I went with whatever could hold my gear. The results are amazing, though, and I’m definitely looking to do some huge HDRs in the coming weeks.
Your wedding shots are great.. I hated doing weddings because I never had any backup support, and to deal with all the processing took too much out of me :(
hey, love the shoe shot!! nice stuff! btw, still need textures?
AMAZING ERIC!!!!! i can’t wait to hang out! i’m soooo excited!! you don’t even know. =D is this ur 2nnd workshop with scott? and LOVE the photos. whoot!
regarding your offer! YES please, i’ll burn a dvd of zion for your editing pleasure
ryc: I’m in Dallas, but available for travel. I should have plenty of time on my hand now
Man I donno how you do it! I post a blog up and not 2 minutes after I hit the submit button you’ve already dropped by and visited! However you do it Thanks! Great shots! I love the “Steady” picture
That picture of the bride on the bed is perfect too. I would have cheated and just darkened/desaturated the bright blue label on that water bottle in PS.
As usual, nice job. Are you using a front curtain flash on the dance floor scenes?
you need to update us dear eric!!!!
ryc — thanks — that wave shot was right out of the camera!
Thanks bro. Looks like you’ve busy yourself! My rates start at $4K and goes up to 12K. Appreciate the referrals. Where are you based out of?
hehehe…we’ll see what happens with CHUCK. Too bad he can’t have both ladies, i’ll take whoever is left =P
these are great shots….i would love to take pictures like you do
nice..”really go!”..hah
RYC: Thanks! I guess we both xanga at the same time every morning
Now that I’m looking this photo on my office monitor, I’m not too sure I like the toning in today’s photo either. I guess I have to stop editing pictures at 3AM.
time for a new post…how about one on your new abode and town?
Ah yes, but I am doing this as a hobby on top of a full time job…
I wish i was doing it full time, then maybe i’d have some competition for your astronomical number of photos shot
One day… One day
ryc — Thanks! Exposure compensation is going to be a wonderful solution for me — and I never would have found it without Matt! He IS good at the one-on-one — patient, heard my concerns and questions well, and gave me some great training. I’ll have to practice some, but there’s still time for that! Happy Thanksgiving — and I’ll see you on Sunday. Janet
cool stuff eric, nice meeting you in escondido. ive never seen somebody eat three orders of rolls of the same sushi before. ahha
yeah, i’ve already been told that i should have used a soft box to avoid the reflection – but i did it on purpose, so i just tell them to shut up!
haha.
glad you like the pics
Hopefully more will come soon!
i’m addicted to this photography thing
happy thanksgiving bro!
God bless
i wish you were here tomorrow… we have wedding shower #1 and i so wish you were here to take the photos!!! hope your workshop goes great and i also hope you had a glorious thanksgiving
What awesome photography!
.
And yes, we Asians do know how to party
Cheers,
Addy
oh almost every picture spells beautiful here.
Wow, you are so talented!
RYC: You grew up in Gresham, OR? Did you know my client Randy Alcorn then? Small world.
Hello hello! Look who finally figured out her password after months and months, I’m such a loser! Great pics, I love the ones that were taken in the Japanese garden! I’ll try to be a better friend and actually keep up (and yes leave comments) with your posts now!
Thank you for the congratulations. Your pictures are beautiful, I love looking at them!
About flash setting – check your manual. Most DSLR have options for front, or first, curtain flash (meaning that the flash goes off as the shutter opens) and rear curtain (or second curtain) which gives you some effects, especially when using your flash with a slower shutter speed as it appears you did when shooting the dance floor. Don’t have time to find some good examples, but check these out http://www.oreilly.com/pub/h/1771 and http://digital-photography-school.com/blog/slow-sync-flash/
Keep shooting – you are GIFTED!
wow…i love this set. that lens must be nice!
absolutely loving the mac screen so far! the flow is slowly getting there though.
Aviatorcutie, ryc thanks, Korea is a wonderful country.
What you doing Saturday?
Eric! I heard from Hannah B that we’ll get to meet you in Pasadena! How cool is that??
I love the fact that I’ll be rubbing shoulders with such phenomenal photographers… Wow.
Looking forward to meeting “for real” –
-Abigail
LOL
Oh hey you are the other half of Blueshoe… I saw your recent project on Mathew’s site, he’s a cool cat!
hey eric. Just wanted to say hi. We met at that nikon d300 release thing at calumet with Matt. Love your stuff. – J
Hey Eric,
LOVE your pics, and hard to pick which one I like the most. Probably the techno dance floor bride one. You are incredible. Also, I’m beginning to see the importance of different lenses! I am praying for YOU… your safety, and sanity, as you’re such a busy busy young man! As for me, if you could pray for my job situation, I’d appreciate it. hugs!
