Coast to Coast….
And Back Again!!
It was a shockingly cold morning in Southern California
when I took off for Florida way back before Christmas.
I walked down the jetway with everything I’d need for the
next 30 days packed into two extraordinarily heavy carry
on bags.(I *refuse* to check baggage, it feels like something ALWAYS
goes wrong, lol)Now, I’m reaching the end of those thirty days, and my bags
are bursting with new camera toys and heavy coats. I’ve been
in a half a dozen states and taken a plethora of quick business
trips and adventures here on the East coast. It’s been awesome! That said, I’m typing this from my latest desk… Near Cumming, GA
where I’m photographing a winter wedding that has the potential
to REALLY become a “Winter Wonderland” as they’re calling for
a second series of snow flurries and a low in the 20′s!I’m about to head out to shoot a lovely Bridesmaid luncheon so I’d
better cut this short… But not before I post up some of the photos
from my recent “Two Bride Experience”Blair and Elizabeth are both married to wonderful men.
Liz for nearly 6 years, and Blair for nearly two… And yet,
they both had a horror story to share with me about their
wedding photographers.Pictures that looked awful, mean personalities, even
photographers so loud and ubiquitous that they “stole
the show” from the bride and groom. So… After all that time, they were finally going to get the photos
they’d always wanted!!
But here’s the kicker – Elizabeth is my sister, and Blair is my cousin!
So *I* not only got to take pictures of beautiful brides, but also had half
my family’s Christmas presents figured outJust Like…. Her Wedding Day.
My Lovely Sister…
Crazy…. Depth.
Have I mentioned how much I love my new 5D yet?
The depth of field, and contrast it achieves straight out of camera is AMAZING!Our location of choice was once again the Inn where I was born and raised…
The Chalet Suzanne. These next few photos were shot atop the dining room,
over the lake.Detailed….
A “Marilyn Moment…Blair let me shoot Elizabeth first, and played “Maid of Honor” while
we explored the Chalet the first time… Then she ran home and we took
a few of just her, and the two together!Of course, I got Blair to model a bit even without her wedding garb
Liz…
….Being Liz
My Mother even came down to see how things were going…
Details…
THEN, we went back up to the rooftop… See, Blair had changed,
and we simply had to shoot up there again. I think you’ll see whyA bit of an artistic edit…
Can’t decide if I like this one or not, lol.
The next one however is one of my new all time favorite images“Mystery”
Seeing a trend in locations??
They really got into the whole “spinning” thing
See?
I love their dresses in this one….
Time to Re-Primp…And here’s the last one…
The first thing BOTH Brides asked me, was whether or not we
could shoot in the Chalet Bar… And I’ll admit, I was initially not
very into the concept… I’m so glad they talked me into it!And now it’s rehearsal time, I’ll talk to you all again soon,
SO many more photos and stories to postPlease be praying for us as we travel and work this weekend,
we need it!!Many Blessings

you never fail to amaze me, what an absolutely incredible artist… always in love with your stuff. i will be thinking of you this weekend, good luck.
Wow, these are incredible!!! I love the dress in the second shot.
Awesome pictures. I especially love “Depth” and “Mystery”.
What beautiful young ladies… and you did an excellent job!
I love these SO much. Mystery is great. I also like, towards the top, where Elizabeth is walking away from the camera. It looks like something out of a perfume commercial or something. (A commercial that I’d LIKE, might I add.)
Ahhh, easy to see now why you and Bri get along so well.
An Inn? Really?
I really like “Mystery” too! Good work!
You and your sister look a lot alike!
I love the artistic edits
they are both so amazingly gorgeous….good genes in your family
beautiful work, as always.
looks like ur havin’ a great time! and really enjoyin’ that 5D. “Mystery” is rad
Man, your family makes pretty people!
Wow you and your sister look alike!
My favorite one is the “Marilyn Moment.” Those pink flowers and her smile make the photo.
Wonderful and I agree the mystery shot is outstanding
I love the in the moment aspect of your photos.
those are so very good..noo..great
i really like the ‘marilyn moment’ one.
have a good & fun weekend
If you know something about the new 5D replacement, please do share! The world is dying to know. The latest rumor is that we’ll see it some time in the next TWELVE days, woohoo!
BTW, are you using Scott’s retouching tools any? You should be! You’ve obviously got the shooting and the LR / BR processing down pat, time to master other things now!=Matt=
I was married over 30 years ago and we had a small budget so we gave a guy just starting out a job but our wedding photos are pretty much the worst ever…especially the posed ones!!! Thankfully, even a mediocre photographer or beginner lucks out once in awhile so there are a small number of good ones. I like the spinning ones the very best!!!!!
I love these. The whole idea of a redo is fantastic. You have such a marvelous talent. My favorite is the Chalet Bar. I love how you captured the moment. And the spinning pictures are so cool. Something every little girl always loved to do. Your have created memories for your sister and your cousin that they will cherish forever.
Eric, these are beautiful! Probably THE best I’ve seen by you yet. Of course, I’m just me, no major art critic, but they really ARE beautiful pictures. You HAVE come a long way, even in the short time I’ve been your xanga friend. Save travels, peace of mind and hugs from NH to you. Keep shooting!
awesome photos!!!!!!!!!
I absolutely adore these photo’s.
Especially ’cause I haven’t looked at them for a week….it gives me a new appreciation!
Haha..
These are beautiful! I especially like the depth, detailed, and flaring dress one of Liz, and the re-primping one of Blair.
RYC: Thanks! It was a beautiful place, definitely the best part of my trip to Israel.

These are sooooo great…they brought tears to my eyes. The spinning ones are wonderful…beautiful innocence. What a wonderful gift to give brides who had bad experiences with their wedding photogs. Can’t wait to see the Georgia winter wedding pics.
Fantastic job… love the “depth” “detail” “marilyn” “mystery” and the second spinning one.. but they’re all great.. Love the DOF used and compositions.. great job.. very nice post work too..
Fabulous absolutely fabulous…..I love photographing outside the wedding day, the bride is usually more playful and relaxed!
Love this post…I saw the photos before and loved them …and esp enjoy your commentary with. The girls are beautiful!
Beautiful photos..hope the wedding went well..I was praying for you guys yesterday morning…hope you had fun with your helpers from California..I know Carolyn was so excited to have you take the photos! You take care and safe travel to you!! Charlotte
Beauty certainly runs in your family… glad you were there to capture it so expertly!
These are among my favorites out of all of your shots, if not the utmost. You’ve really improved your vision and techniques, hermano.
Ugh- I have yet to see a good wedding photographer in action. All of the ones I’ve ever run across have been like the ones your sister and cousin described.
great photos! always a pleasure to see people find happiness in life. =)
really nice pictures. Diem and I use to work together a long ways back. I went down to Houston this past weekend to hang out with him. It’s nice to have ISO 25600 when there is no light available and the photos are still usable.
Beautiful photos Eric, and of two beautiful women! As for the artistic
photo, I like that too. Keep up the great work. Would love to have you
photograph my wife if you ever get back this way again.
DOOOD love the artistic edit on Blair. =D
These images are beautiful…. and the girls are too!!!! What a fun shoot. Sweet! ~ Dawn
welcome back bro! hopefully we can meet up sometime. are you free friday morning by chance?
Hi…I’ve heard nothing but fabulous things about you and your work from Carolyn (carolynwilliams) and I couldn’t help but coming by your blog and seeing what all she was talking about…and let me just say…..WOW!!!!
I hope that you don’t mind, but I have subbed to your site….I can’t wait to see what all you have up your sleeves!!
God Bless!
Deidre
okay, so I have been seeing comments from you on places I visit and finally clicked over. I am normally not a visiting stranger type.
but so glad I didn’t resist the temptation and I LOVE YOUR WORK here. I’m generally picky about pics, but no pickiness needed here. just beauitful. And being some one prejudice that women are generally better at shooting women, I will not have to change my mind… as you out did most women photographers I know here.lovely. just really nice stuff. I’d hire you in a heart beat.
Hey Eric , Nice work! I love #3 and #9 with Liz.
your sister is SOOOOOO gorgeous!!! How did you do the “artistic edit” picture?
GORGEOUS!! How lucky they are to have you! I am always amazed at the horror stories I hear about wedding photographers. I can’t even imagine having an experience like that!! Your sister and cousin are beautiful, I am sure you were excited to capture these images for them!
Beautiful!
) You really capture the moments with these!
Is there any possibility I can get the pricings that you do for weddings? I have already got the photographer for my weddding booked, but I also have lots of friends that are getting married and may want your name as a possibility!
Erik:
These images are over-board! I love the angles you shot from and your color is rockin man!
Randy
Sounds good. But you have to get branded before you can chill with us!
@KennyKimDotCom -
Hahaha…. I’ll put the KennyKim logo on my butt, will that work?
But you have to put a blue shoe on yours, deal?
hahaha
Your photos look amazing! I really like the use of DOF in your pictures.
RYC: “Mr. Man” was a little too busy being the dance instructor, band mediator, and overall dance leader to take any photos of me. =P Besides, it’s notoriously difficult to get good shots in there- the dance hall is rather dimly lit, and since it’s a social dance (not choreographed), great photos come more by chance than anything. I’ve yet to see more than maybe a handful of decent photos taken there.
Gracias. I went through your blog tonight with friends; they adore your photos.
RYC: It’s funny that people are naive enough to think that out government WANTS the dollar to go up again.
@adifferentkindofbeautiful -
Naivety is a painful thing, no?
(Painful to watch, that is…)
These friends of yours… Any of them getting married?
I’d love to come back to Georgia this summer, help me make it happen, please!
Yes. Not in my class, but my friends Amy and Hannah are. Amy got a photographer already but I think she’s so blase. And Hannah hasn’t found one yet. Both wedding takes place near Dothan, Al. 20 minutes from GA
RYC: I think people aren’t evil enough or something, because I completely understand the gov’s scheming ways
Get the US currency down so people are weak and looking for a hero, and bam! New, better, “improved” currency magically appears. It might take a few years, but I have no doubt someone will try this soon.
there are rumors of a new post…what will Eric do? Work or post or sleep!
Right now Spence is watching the History Channel, Bri is talking to Alyssa on AIM with Charlie curled up beside her and I’m sitting up here with them keeping warm by the fire because of your generousity.
Thanks for loaning me your extra laptop!
HUGS
@broncomom - You don’t want to know what they’re talking about, haha
Awesome Pictures! I Love them:) Your Great!
