Edit: BIG News!!
So, my best friend Ethan Demme called me a bit ago with
BIG news… She said Yes!!Rush over and congradulate them right away

_______________
Pretty Pastels…
20.8 (the .8 is important
years ago, I was born in Central
Florida in a small town called Lake Wales… More precisely,
I was born in my parents bedroom in their home at our
family’s country inn, the “Chalet Suzanne”.
Since moving out a few years ago, I haven’t been able to make
it back home very often. But, when I do I always have a wonderful
time seeing my family and the last couple of visits I’ve broken out
the photo equipment and done little mini-photo shoots around the
area.
The photos I’m posting tonight are a few that I accumulated on my
last visit a few weeks ago… I don’t have a lot of time to write tonight,
but I can’t keep promising to post without delivering!
So, without further ado:
In downtown Lake Wales, the old train depot has been turned into a museum,
some of the tracks still remain.
A few streets away stands the Rhodesbilt Arcade, the architecture
in that building is amazing.
Then, looking up across the street is a simple staircase that looked amazing.
From downtown I headed over to the airport to hang out
with some of my old skydiving buddies… My cousin Audra
and I were waiting for the next jump run and I caught this
picture of her with her Nikon D50.
Big lens!
And then the jump… I really miss skydiving!
As the day wore on, we made our way back to the Chalet
and I caught some interesting shots as day turned to night.
And from the other side of the pool, a perfect example of the
relaxation that you’ll find at the Chalet.
And a lovely (though broken) lamp.
Hammerhead clouds?
Notice the rain coming down in the middle of the cloud

And a gorgeous stone bench overlooking the lake.
On the walk home, I caught a picture of my little brother James as
he peered around our big bell. (I need a new flash!)
A few hours later, I went back down to the Chalet to capture some
night shots to try to capture some of the eccentric beauty that “is”
the Chalet.
I set myself up on the end of a long corridor that houses a few of
our 28 guest rooms… This next shot was a 3.5 second free handed
exposure that I happened to snap the shutter on just as a couple of
guests walked by the lens.
The amazing thing about the Chalet is all of the small things…
The plates in the walls, the tile sinks and tubs in the bathrooms
the random dishes and the 5 star meals… The vineyard, the
airstrip, even the little Christmas tree lights lining the roof
year round.
If you look in the last picture, you’ll see a staircase at
the end of the row…. Here it is again.
(A 4 second free handed exposure… I’m getting better at this!)
And finally, a 30 second exposure of one of the fountains.
I’ve been moving, working and editing over 2,000 photos… It’s been
a BUSY few weeks, and the next one promises to be the busiest yet
as I prepare to do one of the craziest things possible… To continue
our journey on to Alaska and Mexico, broken leg or not.
Ethan and I will be posting again soon,
I have to finish moving tomorrow!
P.S. Keep me in Prayer, and let me know what I can Pray for you about!

YES PICYURES!
LOL typed to fast
You know, that place really is awesome. I remember when I was there! How cool. Okay…I need to think about it for a minute………………
How cool. Awesome pictures! Take care.
What wonderful photos you are getting better all the time Eric Judi
seems like an amazing place to live and do a photo session. must have been great memories for you!
Nice photo story…and no wonder you LOVE clouds, with that flat Florida landscape
you have to look up to find your “hills of light and shadow”.
I think I would enjoy looking at all 2000 of your pictures, to bad that would take to long to post.
Do your parent’s help run the Inn?
What are they doing with themselves since selling the homeschol business?
I’ll be praying for you and Evan and any travels you may take…praying for God to set a hedge of protection around you!
Please pray for our Brianna and her youth group as they leave for a 4 day retreat up in the mountains.
Also pray for her friend Justin who is leading a 2 week mission trip to Rawanda, Africa next week.
God Bless and good night
*Ethan (it’s late time for bed)
great photos. thank you. i will be praying that your recovery be complete, and that your upcoming trip be filled with adventure of the sort that helps you to know yourself better.
Wow! The picture with the guest interference is great! It looks ethereal and haunting. And the picture of your brother is great, and the picture of the bench… I love your photography, it’s awesome.
Love in Christ, Caleb
beautiful…
sorry i was a bit anti-social tonight.
i miss you lots. *hug*
WOW! I don’t know what else to say this is one of your best posts. It takes something special to do what your family does. They have a lifestyle that is about service all the time. Having worked in retail for a decade I know it takes more than just a slight interest in people to serve them. What your parents do takes a commitment that goes far beyond my own in serving people. You have two choices when it comes to serving people….you can become cynical, or you can learn to accept people as they are. The first choice will make life terrible for you. The second will be very personally costly, in the short run, it will stretch you in ways wonderful and painful. But in the end you will become a real lover of people. The most costly choice, all things considered, is the first choice. Knowing what I do of you, I imagine your parents have made the second choice….to accept and learn to deeply love people. This little look into Eric’s family business is very telling!
WAHOO! Still going on the journey…..you amaze and encourage me with your indomitable spirit lad!! That goes for Ethan too!
God bless, and you guys are in my prayers!
Happy and Safe Travels,
BP
Good pictures!!
Have a good day
Mmmm, lovely.
Great photos!
You have my prayers and best wishes for the trip.
I need to find an inexpensive place (room?) to rent immediately. Right now, I’m staying at a homeless shelter, but their rules are colliding with some of my health problems and the one who’s getting hurt is me. I have to get out of here and leave this space for someone else who needs it!
beautiful photos. i’ll be praying for you on your trip
take care of yourself!
Sweet shots….. I like #3,6, and 12!
praying for you…..
Amazing pictures!! What a awesome place to live!
I’ll be praying…
Good post

Hey Eric, Those were great pictures! I hope I get the joy of visiting there someday. And thanks for not procrastinating anymore. But I hope you got enough sleep. Enjoy your busy week. I’ll be praying for you! God Bless!
those are really beautiful…..what a fabulous place….
I love the first picture, and the one of the bench.
They sure do like pink buildings in Lake Wales, don’t they?
“Entrance” is absolutely FANTASTIC. The colors, composition, messages, movement, everything!!! I like that picture so much, that it will remain my favorite in this post. I cannot betray it and comment on any other picture.
But I do like the fountains as well.
Great job.
The inn is beautiful! Be safe-Your in my prayers
Love the bench photo. Please tell me you tweaked it.
wow, cool photos….hard to choose but James, the clouds, and the corridor are favs! Praying for you to heal, your move, Ethan, your travels, and for the good Lord to keep working in you and through you!
Please pray for God to give us grace and strength, and for a new job for my hubby. Lord bless, Jenny
Wow nice pictures. For the last 2 years ive been itchin to travelin so if i ever decide to do it..thats a place i might wanna visit.
very pretty. the cloud shot is awesome. i love how the sun is coming through the clouds. also, my favorite color is pink so i automatically thought the train depot is amazing. the bench in the park was cool too, and your brother is adorable.
Beautiful as always
You’re still in my prayers — i’d appreciate yours too! I’ll be starting my courses from NYIP soon — and i’m a little nervous

I really like the staircase picture and the fountain is just beautiful! Hope you’re doing well!
Hello, Hopes this finds everyone doing great. Thank you for sharing your wonderful pictures. Take care please, Sharon in GA
Well, at least this has not instilled in you a love of pastel shirts… has it? *ominous glare*
Your photos just keep getting more amazing. I loved this post…felt like I was there, walking thru the halls with you.
I’ll be praying for your safe travels…and full recovery. Are you coming to California? Mary and I will make a place for you for sure. You’ve just GOT to visit Santa Cruz. Well, if you can anyway.
ryc- in regards to lens selection… **click here**
Hey
amazing photographs …I will be mailing you something before you head out.
You and Ethan are in my prayers as you begin your travels again !! HUGS
Love your stair shot, and the sepia bench! Cool skydiving pic too. My dad used to jump a lot…I forget how many hundred jumps he has to his name but as a little kid I always wanted to copy him.
(Haven’t yet!)
Re the 300D, it comes with a lot of goodies (manual&original CD/cables/battery/charger/remote switch/battery grip/warranty for another year and a half), but I’d be happy if I could get $350 for it, plus shipping and warranty transfer fee. Email me if you want to discuss, kelsey@characterlink.net or from my xanga site.
Hope the leg’s getting better quickly!
Love the cloud shot. And the first few draw out that “let’s go find someplace to shoot” side of me. As for your comment on my post, self-destructiveness isn’t what I meant.
thank you.
I think your photo’s are stunning. Everything seems to be such an adventure in your world, I wish I could be a part of it when I see it.
Take care
Haha! “More specifically in the back bedroom of that house”
Ok, you win the “more homeschooled then I” award. I was born in a hospital!
(but the next five were born at home)
back again…I like your evening photos, they have a bit of mystery to them and create a sense of discovery…I feel like I’m wandering around the property, breathing in the warm summer air, seeing the pool, your brother peeking through the fence, and wondering if I can go splash in the fountain
“Sweet Tea by the gallon, AC at 50 degrees, and swimming pools. “
Amen, agreed, and how I long to go swimming!
I think the number was symbolic… maybe a cry for help or a sign that I should move on… something like that.
These are great! Thanks so much for sharing! Sounds like you’re off to a wonderful adventure. How’d you break the leg???
Really enjoyed this series, the staircase photo and the long exposure are awesome. 3.5 seconds! how do you do it?
oh, i miss that place! many many many special memories reside there…
so when are you guys coming through arizona?
haha..i’m not sure about tolkien…but i suppose my life is a bit like a strange novel sometimes. hehe.
i miss you a ton.

I noticed you’re into flying, riding and shooting (photography). My kind of guy. Excellent! What do you fly/ ride/ shoot?
those pics are awesome! i love the fountain one!
NO NO NO, I LOVE the previews! I’ll get caught up in the previews and seriously forget what I’m there to see sometimes. It’s the commercials before that. Like at Superman, we sat through NINE commercials… two just for Verizon. Bah!
You are such an amazing photographer. Lake Wales – over by Winter Haven. Yeah, I’m familiar. Lived in Tampa. My wife is from Tampa and I was there in the military at MacDill AFB for 3 years.
beautiful as always!
I like that staircase!
And I want to know how you got such a good pic at 3.5 and 30 sec without camera shake? I can’t even do that with my IS lens? My hands start shaking thinking bout it. What other settings did you use?
And how come the depot is pink?
Great pictures. I didn’t text you anymore b/c I went into the interview & when I came out the state director asked me to speak a reporter & be inerviewed by her. I will be home tomorrow , I may come up to dayton, I deff. want to see you before you leave. I have been praying for you like Crazy! In 2 hours I will find out what possition on the TN state council I have, If I am a state Rep. or State council President. Any way I’ll talk to you later. love & prayers ~Elizabeth

Well I need lots of prayer, a team of 9 is going to teach english at an english camp. Read my site for prayer requests! Thanks!
Yeah, I would miss home too!!! These are some awesome pics. We just love your stuff!!!

The staircase and the bench are by far… my favorites =) Great job.
Thanks man, I appreciate the comments.
You have to take a road trip up that way, Eric. It is incredible.
hope you have had a great weekend Eric….
thanks eric! i’ve only processed 16 photos. so 250 more to go!!! yay me!
Very, very cool experiences.
So, I’m curious…how do you find the time to comment on hundreds of people’s sites? It’s amazing that you do so, and have an average of 100 comments per post. It’s absolutely incredible…
RYC: Thank you for the compliments… I appreciate them, especially coming from you. You are very very talented:)
You are INDEED in my prayers! Take care of yourself!!
wowwww nice pics. do you take your camera everywhere?
that video made me really hate that i stopped playing the piano. there still is one downstairs…i just haven’t touched it since we moved.
have a great monday!!!
Nice shots man
RYC: i used a canon 30D DSLR with Canon 16-35 f/2.8L lens.. on tripod.. most were at f/9 or so.
and it’s not dorky to carry around a camera.. haha i wish my DSLR was small enough to carry everywhere. I have a dinky point and shoot but i always forget it
You crack me up. You really do.
Only 300.
Sheesh.
How’s your broken leg doing? Are you making a website to showcase your pictures? Like, some kind of portfolio? Oh yeah, gas in Hawaii is about $3.27-$3.37-$3.47. Costco sells for about $3.08-3.15. How does it compare to where you’re currently? Gas is still cheap- compared to Japan and Europe. Can’t complain. Congrats to your best friend Ethan. Best wishes to his marriage.
Praying! Have a great trip!
Hi There!
Thank you so much for your vote!!
your awesome, and we love ya
and your comment??..LOL It kinda made me laugh, cause Im not sure why you said it was lovely??? Im so curiouse???LOL
you have a lot of comments!! Great photos, whoever you are.
Eric it was so good hearing from you! This was a wonderful post by the way. I love learning more about the people I visit. You grew up in a beautiful home and it is obvious your parents did a wonderful job with you. RYC: the camera that I used to take the butterbean shots was a gateway however now I own a Nikon DS270 that all our older lenses from our manual cameras fit on to. I love it! I just wish I had the talent you have with it. Perhaps if I try and practise long enough I will get the hang of it. Congratulations to Ethan and his bride to be may they have many long blissful love filled years together. You are always in my prayers but I will pray especially hard for you to have a wonderful trip. Take care and God Bless you my friend.
Debbie
Great pics..sounds like a great place!! Happy Monday!! You are in my prayers!!
