Wow, Colorado Already!!
As I type this I’m sitting on a deck, overlooking Pikes Peak in
the gorgeous city of Colorado Springs, CO.I’ll probably end up here someday… Maybe not “The Springs” but
here in Colorado.
I absolutely love this State.__________________
We’ve been on the road for just over a week now, riding our
bikes through 7 States so far (on this leg) with only a handful
to go before we jump North into the Yukon Territory and
then onto Alaska. We’ll be filling in more States soon!
To save time, Ethan and I are both posting on our private
“Trip Site” just about daily… There’ll be pictures, posts and
stories HOPEFULLY every night, if we can find internet access.Since I won’t be able to check my xanga every night, I’d really like
to have you stop by over there and check in on our latest… The site
address is:
www.bowtietour.com
Check out the “blog” link and be sure to leave us some comments!
New post will be coming tonight over there most likely so be sure
to read up on our insane adventures…
Now…
Since all of that’s been said, let me leave you all with some pictures
I’ve taken, both just before we left and along the way.
“Aged…”
This a handheld 25 second exposure of the Rhea County Courthouse
where the Scopes “Monkey” trial took place back in the ’20s the storm
that night was amazing (If you read my private blog, then you already
know about that night… Remember? The one where I got to help the
Sheriffs department out until the wee hours of the morning?
“Stormy Skies”
Sometimes you have to slow things down a bit to see
all of the beauty.
“Silken Water”
It’s amazing how life looks through a rose colored
filter… When’s the last time you tried to take a look
at the lovelier side?
“Rose Colored World”
Then again, sometimes life feels like your walking around
with a “Kick Me” sign stuck to your back, doesn’t it?
“Kick Me”
Occasionally though, you have to take a look into someone
else’s eyes to find yourself.
That’s all for tonight folks, check out our other site for more
updates and pictures! Let me know what I can be praying for,
as always and know that I WILL pray for you
Please continue to Pray for Safety and that we’ll be using our time wisely,
to build God’s kingdom and to grow.
All my best,

Woo! You are where I live, (in Colorado.) You need to visit:
The Garden of the Gods
The 7 Falls
Cripple Creek
The North Pole
Manitou Springs (penny arcade!)
Those are my suggestions. If you come through Denver, stop by Red Rocks Amphitheater. Go to Boulder, Estes Park. Drive I-70 through to Glenwood Springs to see where Doc Holiday was buried. Glenwood canyon is breathtaking.
=)
Have fun guys!!!!
I love Colorado…wouldn’t mind ending up there myself someday….
I can imagine you’re having a blast. Have fun.
sweet! I am so envious; the Rockie are are my list of places to go fore i die, along with ireland, scot..well actually most of europe…i could seriously spend a year or two globe trotting, that would be so unbelievably cool…
scarry, I was just there a week ago…
Glad you’re having a safe trip so far. Any plans to come to Cali?
Lived in Denver for a year and loved it. Enjoy the continental divide!
you are missed as well.
i’ve been praying for you.
hehe..everytime i pass a bike i send up a little prayer for you and ethan. =)
take lots of pictures to show me! i’ve never been to colorado, so you’ll just have to enjoy it for me. lol.
I wanna go to Colorado. Stay safe out there! Praying for you…
Yay for my home state!!!! You guys should have let me know, you could have stayed at my place! Stay safe, and have a great trip!
Colorado is beautiful. I am so glad you are having a good trip. Wonderful pictures as usual Judi
Lazing in Colorado? Must be a rough time.
before i die i will take a cross country trip
Those pictures are AMAZING! I love the aged, and silken water! They are amazing! I also love Colorado! I was out there for about a week and we went to Colorado Springs and up Pikes Peak and everything. It was awesome!
I absolutely love Colorado. I had gone to the superbike races at PPIR for three days and then the rest of the week we just wandered around the state enjoying the scenery.
By the way, you completely skipped over me hear in Kansas. You’re probably better off though. The temperature has been in the three digits for days now. Have a safe trip!
Hope you’re having a fun time being “mile high” up there in Colorado.
Though I’d never try to undertake what you’re doing (on BIKES, man???), I think it’s awesome that you’re doing something that you want to do.
Be safe and have a great week, man.
What fun!! I’ll be really curious if Hawaii turns up red…
Colorado is gorgeous…I drove thru for the first and only time on my road trip in 1976. My traveling buddy fell in love with Vail and moved back there a few weeks after we returned to California…haven’t heard from her since.
I’ll join mommyfish is dating myself…my roadtrip was in 1979…it was a good year to travel….gas crunch, so not as many other people on the road. We only had trouble once in Florida finding gas. 33 states, Canada, and the US Virgin Islands on that trip….yah we took a plane
You guys are putting in some serious miles….have fun, be safe…and yes, I have a pink sticky note with your names and prayer requests on the computer…so praying! Fav. pic is silken water! I’ll go check out your travel page!
Blessings,Jenny
Unlike my “sisters”, mommyfish and bot4aprice, I’m not a big traveler so I’m more then happy to see the USA through your eyes. These pictures and the thoughts with them are lovely.
Continue to drive defensively and May the Lord be before you. HUGS, Mary
absolutely gorgeous, as usual!
P.S. Gold and blue are my favorite color combination, so I really like “stormy skies”.
are those true colors or digitally enhanced?
Those eyes look familiar.
Lovely pictures!! I especially like “Silken Water.”
I’m missing you and praying daily.
Colorado is gorgeous… about three generations of my mom’s family have lived on a few acres in Brighton (just outside of Denver). I’m counting on you for breathtaking pics of the Rockies!
Great pictures, and hope you get a bunch of beautiful Colorado. You boys are making good time. Who is wearing that t-shirt that says “kick me”?

Hey, my sister lives in Colorodo Springs. It’d be funny if u ran into her.
I spent a long weekend in Estes Park last year with 8 other bulletin board people I’ve “spoken” to since 1998. We came from Texas, New York, California, Arizona, Ohio, Indiana, and Colorado. We were there for their first snow! Ohh, our AZ girl was like a little kid! Catching snow flakes on her tongue, and writing about the snow…throwing snoballs!
That shirt just begs to be kicked
and I did
amazing photographs…you truly inspire me
I am praying for ya’ll.
and will you pray for me as I head back to school…there is just a lot to get done before that and it stresses me out
thanks
hope your weekend is going well so far…
man you gotta visit arkansas on your way back
Wow, how awesome!
I will most definitely be praying for you both as you continue on your journey! Can’t wait to see more of the pictures that you’ll share with us!!
I can’t believe you went thtrough Missouri w/o letting me know! Sounds like you are having fun though. I will be praying for you guys. Make sure and drink lots of water. You can get dehydrated on Powerade and Gatorade, believe it or not. Trust the nurse and experience!
ryc~ would love to have you visit…got two twin beds in the guest room! Just watch out for the crazy drivers coming through LA
Wow. ColorRado, you guys sure are moving fast. Keep that spirit of slowing down and taking time to build a firm foundation. ~Blessings on your journey.
ryc- i use the fresco filter in CS
wow you’ve been through alot. You have traveled so far!! hope ur doing well and enjoying the scenery.
ryc: thanks for the comment. That blurring effect takes mad skills!! hehe I cna’t seem to do it w/o getting the subject not to blur. lols
that is one sweet journey. becareful out there and i’ll keep checking on the bowtie tour blog.
why’d you skip over kansas? i wanna know. is there something wrong with it? oh yeah, i forgot. theres nothing here. lol. well anyways, have fun and stay safe!
I need that “kick me” t-shirt……………….no reason, I just want it.
So explain to me why you just bypassed Ohio huh…
Nah I’m kidding…I’d bypass it too but it does have some great country roads – much prettier later in August/beginning of September during harvest time.
Have fun on the rest of your trip!!!
have fun in Alaska! I’ve always wanted to go…I love your pictures
and you skipped my state! boo!
Great photos!!! Stop in Golden and meet a great group of townspeople at the Buffalo rose bar and grill. You wont be disapointed.
And…when is your Oklahoma visit???? Pop in on Aug 12 and y ou will make it just in time for my Bday party. I’m having a huge Mexican Fiesta!
So I stopped by the other day without leaving a comment!!! :O Only because it wouldn’t work though! I love the first pic and of course the “Kick Me” shirt! Happy traveling!
Cool site that y’all made for your journey.
Colorado is beautiful. My most memorable family trip growing up was touring Colorado in an R.V.
that is so cool… i guess you’re taking a world tour of sorts? im subbing just to vicariously live through you. pictures are cool too.
Haha. Thats rich. I have famliy that lives at the base of Pikes Peak. And Alex and I are just finishing up a trip to Kansas, New Mexico and Georgia. Which leads me to my point of commenting. Get ahold of me somehow. (haha) I’ve got a perfect money making opp for you. Tah!
Liz
Oh a straight rockin’ time indeed, as I’m sure every aspect of your trip is as well?
eh, you win some you lose some. (and consider this my “first dibs” on your canon gear:)
Just so long as you continue to take pictures we’re all good:)
and the chronicle continues…
Lovely pictures. May God continue to be with you on this journey and may you all enjoy every step of the way!
You are in my continued prayers,
Jes
we’re in Columbia, right smack between St. Louis and Kansas City. did you take I70? that goes straight through us. tis ok. I need to do an update soon. hope you are having fun!
nice pic.s
ryc…she can have it back at anytime. She just hasn’t been able to access a computer, so I update for her…Jon
Hey man…thanks for the uplifting words. Oh, and please, PLEASE pray for Katie alone and also for my relationship with her. After her head injury, she has had several lapses in memory…the latest one being yesterday.
EACH and every time, Jon (the psycho ex-boyfriend turned step-brother who has hijacked her xanga)brings up old stuff JUST to get her upset at me…to try and hurt our relationship. In doing so (as if that wasn’t bad enough) he is hurting her deeply…but he doesn’t care. I would grately appreciate your prayers and those of the people around you. I don’t know how long I can take this, let alone Katie. Shes in pieces.
Steven Taylor
hey there friend, how was alaska?
we should hang out sometime.
school’s going to start soon and
things are going to start getting
crazy!! keep smiling friend ~hil
RYC: Sure hope so! Wednesdays or Thursdays are the most likely time to connect.
Thanks for the BD wishes…sisters are great, letting everyone know our ages! Ha, OK really. Hopefully more wisdom
I will go check out your travel site! Lord bless, Jenny
hope your having a great weekend buddy
I love the “Silken Water” the most
Hey I was wondering if you could pray for my family. Both of my parents are pretty stressed right now. We have a lot going on and just need some prayer. Thanks,
Steph
you missed Arkansas! I could benefit by taking photo lessons from you guys!
I like colorado too. It is a beautiful state. Judi
You make me homesick.
My mother says that yesterday, some creep stood outside of the courthouse holding a sign that said “Today is roundup day for all wetbacks.” Nobody sent him away for hours. One of the (few) nice things about Arlington is that nobody would be able to get away with that here.

I thought you’d enjoy this.
I was at a business meeting yesterday & was introduced to these two young guys that are working at starting there own marketing business. They reminded me of you, it was a deff. “Elizabeth pray for Eric” moment for sure. Praying for you.
Really dig the ‘aged’ photo.
hey have a great weekend
Thanks again! Still looking forward to that visit when things get a little less busy for you. How are you healing? How is work coming? Been praying for you.
