  • Back to Routine… Just Add Water.

Rain falls with a beautifully melancholy rhythm,
The street glistens in light cast by century old buildings
    and precious little shops.

I’m sitting comfortably on a park bench beside the road,
I’ve been here for hours. Passersby look at me… Some in
wonder, others look at me like I’m a total fool.

As for me, I’m almost totally engrossed… Basking in the
other-worldy, cool glow of my laptop’s screen. I grit my
teeth and curse the weather that’s left me feeling like an old
    man.

Never again, will I look at someone who says “I hurt when
it rains” with incredulity… They’re serious!!

I’m on my second knee injury of the year (the same knee),
and GOSH does it hurt when it rains! It’s absolutely unbelievable!
I say all of this, simply to tell you all how Thankful I am, that
it’s not raining anymore! God’s good

Life at home is back to semi-normalcy… I’m in the midst of
trying to catch up with business, and relationships after nearly
    40 days on the road.

I’ve had a couple of major photoshoots in the 10 days I’ve been
home, and have several more planned for next week (including
my first foray into fashion photography) it’s going to be busy!

    Post Accident Status:
I’m doing well! The swelling is rapidly going down, and I’ve
regained most of my mobility (again). I cannot say enough,
just how amazing God truly IS in His providing for my safety
    and healing.

This past accident, was caused by a ton of different variables,
but the foremost of which, is that I was pushing myself a little
further than I should have been, on the street.

Having just come home from a 13,000+ mile ride, I was confident
and completely at one with the bike… What I didn’t count on,
was the oil in the middle of the road… And that bit me in the butt.

    Post Accident Plans:
I’m selling all of my bikes, in order to get some bills paid…
My current plans are to purchase a BMW GS1200 sometime
in the Winter. With the bike, will come a new, slower riding style
and future plans of buying a dedicated race bike (Probably a GSXR-750)
to keep my speed on a racetrack.

I’m also planning on spending some of my time and money,
getting back into flying… It’s been almost 3 years since my
“major” accident, and I’m ready to re-enter that World, above
the world, that I love so much.

    The Pictures:
Don’t lie, you know you’re only here for the pictures
Here are a few of the thousands I’ve shot over the past few
    months… Many more to come!

A few days ago, I needed a break from the monotony of work,
so I grabbed my camera and took a stroll down to our small local
music shop. Though I took several interesting shots, here are two
    of my favorites:

    “Drumstick Fiesta”

    Drumsticks

“As Far as the Eye Can See…”

    Guitars

This past Saturday, I did a shoot with the guys at ChristianRafting.com
on the Ocoee River… They’re a great group of guys, if you’re ever
in the area, look them up!

    “Prepare to Meet Your Maker”

    Rafting Prep

I had a chance to shoot a group of Kayakers on Saturday also,
and was invited to get back out on the river with them!
I sold my kayak just before I left for Alaska, but they’re going
to lend me one, as soon as I’m physically able to get back into
    the water… I’m psyched!

    “Move Your Hips!”

    Yellow Kayaker

From The Ocoee, I made my way out to our local “Pocket Wilderness”
with my friends Heather and Julie for a quick shoot. I took this one right
after Julie fell in on her bum, completely soaking herself for the second
    time that day.

    Pocket Rapids

After my accident, my friend Andy helped me with the bike,
and made sure I made it home safely… The other day, I popped
off a couple of photos of his bike, behind my new place of residence.

This one’s been through extensive editing, and I’m planning on giving
him a framed copy in exchange for all of his help. (Click on the image,
it looks much better full size).

    2006 Kawasaki Ninja ZX6R

    “Glowing Blue”

    Ninja Project Small

Last but not least, is one from our trip…
This was shot at Lake Morraine in Alberta, Canada.
I’m still working to update our trip blog, but you should
definitely try to keep up with us, at:

I hope to be posting more in the near future…
Please be praying for me to have Wisdom, to heal well,
and that God will bring me even more prosperity in every area!

Let me know how I can be praying for you…. Please!

  • amazing, amazing, amazing…

God is good! and you have talent!

    *hugs*

  • beautiful pictures eric, and glad you’re safe and sound at home. btw i got a job finally, hehe.

  • Wow, those pictures are GREAT!! I really like the music ones. Yeah, it is weird how the weather can effect how you physically feel. I don’t think I’ve ever experienced it personally but I believe it happens!!

  • Nice pictures.   You do take good ones.

  • Hey my friend…Your pictures are a sweet bonus for your blog…but I like what you write the best! I like to hear what you are thinking about and how you are doing   As I was just posting a few pics and announcements myself…I was thinking that I should mention what a miracle it was for me to do as well physically on our swim hike.  I will go back and do so after reading your post…so good to give God the glory for that! I will be praying for you…adding you to my list of those I am commited to praying for regularly (I’ll be posting about that soon too).

Please pray that I would have strength, wisdom with people and my schedule, and provision/job for hubby!  Hard to pick a favorite photo…they are all special…I will pick “beyond just blue” ,as it is so restful and serene. Thanks for that!  Hugs, Jenny

  • HEY!!!!! Eric is back, and I had to say something and be the SIXTH comment!!! hahaha (Now I’ll read what you wrote and admire your pictures, as always. LOL) ~ Stephanie

  • The Lake Morraine picture makes me want to cry because of the beauty. This world is so amazing.

Everytime I read your xanga I want to get into photography, but all I have is a little 3.1 cheap digital. Can I do anything cool with that? Maybe someday I can afford a nice camera, and the classes to teach me how to use it!

I understand the selling stuff to pay bills, though in my case it’s more sell stuff to buy groceries. It sucks and it really challenging my faith, not in whether God cares, but if he cares enough to do something about it. We’ll see.

    Thanks for sharing. :)

  • P.S. I had my pilots license for 3 years. It’s amazing isn’t it? I LOVE flying. If you ever FLY cross country there is a little airport 7 minutes from where I live. You should come pick me up for a ride because I haven’t been in the air (ina little plane) in almost 5 years.

  • Gorgeous! Love these!

  • Alrighty then, I’m finished. First, I never come JUST for the pictures. Your words always inspire me or give me a better understanding of something in some way, plus I very much enjoy knowing how you are doing personally. Second, it only took me a second to figure out what was “wrong” with ALL of your pictures this time. You didn’t include your fancy little “taken by Eric Farewell airplane” signature. HAHA I feel so smart and observant. *yeah right* Thirdly, I LOVED your musical pictures. Music is my bones, and I got goosebumps. Fouthly, I’m proud of you for your selling your bikes, and buying a newer “slower” one later on, and buying one specifically for the racetrack ect….. Big steps and I’m proud of you! Fifthly, the two pictures “Beyond Just Blue” and the “Pocket Wilderness” shot that you forgot to name, they were soooo beautiful!!!! Should be made into posters or something. Also your “Glowing Blue” picture DID look a tad fake, and it only took several intense stares to try to figure out what you might have altered from the original shot to make it look like that. You did a great job and I hope your friend is impressed! Sixthly, you’re getting into flying again…. I’m SOOO excited too! hehe And I think lastly, (but definitely not least) Glad you’re home, thanks for all your prayers for everyone (awesome), and I WILL BE PRAYING for you, especially in the Wisdom department. Wisdom. There are chapters and chapters in the Bible that talk about how important ‘She’ is, and I think we seriously need to remember that when asking God for …… stuff. Great post. Looking forward to more. GLAD you’re home!!!! And that you’re healing well, AGAIN!

God Bless you, Eric Farewell! ~ Stephanie

  • P.S. One more thing… I would be honored if you would take a look at 3 pictures I posted on my xanga and let me know if you have any indication of whether I would be a good photographer or not. :)

    Karli-Rae

  • Awesome Photos, Eric.  That’s not surprising.  You are continually in my prayers, bro.

    God Bless,

    Lonnie

  • Photos? What photos?  HA! just kidding, of course I come here for the photos. And I was NOT disappointed. “Just Beyone Blue” is breathtaking. I’ve never seen anything like that in my life. I’ve got to get out more…

You sound sobered. That last accident must have knocked your noggin’ pretty good. But your plans sound good and wise.

And yes, weather has its affects…I get super bad sinus headaches when the barometric pressure changes… Hmmm, that might be more information than you wanted…

I hope you have a GREAT weekend.

  • The photos are amazing, as always.
    I’m glad you’re home.

  • Glad that you’re healing well.

    Gorgeous photos, like always.

  • RYC: I wish….. no, it’s a pic of a window at the registry I plan to start working for.

Your pics are awesome as usual. I didn’t know you were still posting on the bow-tie tour blog. How did that name come about anyway?

  • glad you are back!! lovely photos :)

  • I’m glad you’re feeling better. :)

  • Like the BMW bike! Now  you’ll be ready to explore the backroads of the USA

I’m trying to picture you sitting on a bench in the rain…I know you’ve been on the computer a lot today because it seems every time I walk walk by my computer Bri is talking to you while doing homework…so is their a sheltered spot, or is the rain soaking you to the bone, with drops of water falling of your nose onto the laptop(haha)

Nice job on the bike portrait! Very moody-urban, also like the way the rooflines point toward the bike.

My fav photo has to be the Kayak…Great action compositon, bold color and frozen water

Take care of yourself and seek God 1st in all you do.
I now consider you one of “my boys”…which means you are in my prayers always.
    Hugs, Mary

  • oh eric i’m so glad you’re home and ok. i was so worried you’d hurt yourself during the trip, which you didn’t, but of course it didn’t take you too long. ;) i love you alot. thanks for your friendship. btw, i’m a huge fan of randomly popping in at your house. might do it more often. :)

  • May god bless you and your works man. dazzling pictures (as always :) ). take is easy.

    -Melissa

  • Well~ the photos are very pretty!!
and i do know that go back to home is really gd!!^^

  • i’m so very glad you are home. =)

i should have said this already, but thank you for letting me know your heart the way you have the past couple weeks. i love every bit of it.

  • Nice pics, and welcome back!

  • That is a very wrapped up Honda Accord
(You know, what all the cool kids drive;)

  • Glad you are healing. The pain with air pressure changes lessens with time. I pretty much quit noticing it in my early 40′s.
I am and have been praying for you.
E had surgery again. Please praying that this will clear up and never bother her again.

  • Glad you’re healing up.  Great pics.  I love the blue motorcycle shot.

Yay to selling the bikes and the slower riding in winter.

Boo to speeding on a racetrack. . .Sorry. . .being a mom again.  Speaking of which, how does your Mom handle all of your adventure seeking behavior (and subsequent injuries)?

  • I’m glad you back bro, I’ll try and drop by sometime soon, life has been a bit crazy lately sorry I have been by to catch up I will fix that soon I promise.

  • You do not insult my Pookie Bear! She is not scary; she is the most awesome person in the world! *Angry bear growl*

Poor moneyless Eric. Good-bye, bikes. Hello, planes.

  • I am always afraid to read your posts because I am afraid I will hear of another accident. My goodness, you seem to pop back from them well. I can tell you that I would not have survived a 70mph accident. Even if I was wearing a helmet I would have jostled my brains so much it would have been mushier than usual. Take care and I will continue to pray for you.  A granny that hurts when it rains…..

  • So glad to hear that you are getting back up to par.  I get stiff just sleeping and I am not even wearing maternity clothes yet!  Be glad you won’t ever have to have a baby!  I really like the music shop pics.  Any chance I could buy a few prints?  talk to you later.

  • Glad you’re okay.  I know you take great pains to wear plenty of safety equipment but it sounds like these accidents are taking quite a toll.

  • I love all your pictures as usual, but the drumsticks are close to my heart, being married to a drummer for 35 years.  I made it my background.  thank you.  Good to have you back. All the time God is good.

  • Thanks so much for your kind comment. I really enjoyed looking through your shots as well, you are very talented. Isn’t the Ocoee aweseome?? Hope the recovery continues to go well.

  • Hey, nice shots, especially the last and third-to-last…and you did a fantastic job of catching the action in that kayaker pic!

  • i LOVE that water shot with long exposure!!

  • wow! those pics are amazing! My favorites are the guitars, the water, the bike and the mountains! amazing!

  • Lake Morraine: beautiful. What an awesome shot!!

Sounds like a little arthur-itis  in your knee :)

Glad to hear you made it back from your 13,000 mile trip.

PS What was the price of gasoline in Alaska??

    Christy

  • welcome back home. Good that the swelling has gone down…

  • Glad to hear you are doing well Eric. I will continue to pray for you….and of course amazing pictures.

  • did i not comment? could have sworn i did.

amazing pictures, you have talent, blah, blah…. don’t you ever get tired of the same old compliments?
haha…sorry, i couldn’t help but put a damper on things, you know me.
but yeah, you are pretty freaking good at taking pictures…the only descent ones i’ve ever taken have been, “uh…yeah…of course i meant to do that”s.
thanks for being so awesome and talking to me so much lately…you light up my extremely dark homework hours, true story.
you have to come out and drive that persons car…if you do we should book it out to joshua tree for at least a day…it would be a freakin awesome adventure, you’d probably die from the amazing photo ops…and the scenery should be great too…heheh…ok, that was lame.
so, you may be wondering, “why have i been graced with such an amazing comment?”
i’m bored, why else would i bother typing so much when i’m not even gunna get an immediate response?
now you may be asking, “why doesn’t she just go to sleep…she’s starting to ramble”
i’m not tired, get over it.
i do have an extremely bad headache though…that might explain the rambling.
i haven’t had my eric fix today…i’m starting to twitch. maybe that’s what the headache’s from.
hmm…i talked to justin tonight…it was better, he was really nice and understanding and sounded genuinely happy to hear about my day :o ).
i wish it was summer, i want to travel the heck out of europe. how the heck am i gunna afford this? maybe i can snake some of justin’s dad’s frequent flyer miles…good plan bri, good plan.
i’m gunna explore some parts of san diego with my friends tomorrow…i’m really excited about that.
i have a self portrait due on thursday…i haven’t started on it yet…i hope this family has a full length mirror…so i can capture my amazingness in its entirety. chya.
well, since this is about the size of a novel, it’s time to say “ciao bella”
    (wow that was cheesey)

  • hey there…

  • i knew she’d treat you good. ;)   it is certainly a city worth falling in love with.

  • gee, didn’t know if  I wanted to know what my daughter was doing all I had to do was check your comments…*chuckles to self*

  • Hello,

I’m messaging all of the contestants for the Vehicles Contest to try to find the person who took the third photo in the photobucket. If you were the third person to enter your photo in the photobucket, then please enter a picture that doesn’t have special effects. You can edit your picture using highlights, shading, contrast, and things like that, but no special effects : ). Can’t wait to see your next picture. For those of you who haven’t entered your picture yet, just a reminder to enter it by Midnight Friday.

    Thanks : )

  • i see you went on my site without commenting…stalker.

    ha…i love footprints…

  • Well I actually came for the motorcycle in your little id icon on someone else’s site.  The photos were a BIG bonus!  And if you don’t mind, I’ll return for more.  Will also pray you heal rapidly and that eventually won’t mind a bit when it rains.

  • “Prepare to meet your maker”……Maker of what?….Poop?
