  • ‘Left’ Coast…

    …Here I Come!!

    It’s about that time again…
Time to hide your children, lock up your chickens,
say your prayers, and run away from the flying
    monkeys.

That’s right… I’m headed back to the ‘Left’ Coast

A few weeks ago, I was contacted for a last minute
wedding reservation up in the Redwoods, near
Eureka, California. To be honest, I’m STOKED!

I fly out Thursday of next week, so expect to see
highlights from the shoot soon there-after…

If you’ve been reading my blog long, then you might
remember my epic journey all over the continent
    last
year on my motorcycle (with my buddy Ethan).

Though I’ve spent a good portion of my life out in
California, that trip was special, largely because of
the way we saw things on the bikes, and the way I
was able to capture it through my lens.

Without further ado, here are some of my favorite
    (never-
    before-seen) photos from that trip

    _____________________________________

    “In The Midst Of Giants”

    Redwoods

    Those trees are SO big!
The bridal portraits are going to be a blast

    “Details”

    Moss

Sometimes it’s really a cool thing to go through old pictures,
it’s like re-experiencing all of the joy, and excitement from
    days gone by.

I get a real kick out of it

    “The Coast”

    San Fran Coast

The shot above, was taken just North of the
Golden Gate Bridge. The fog was rolling in
just before sunset, and the colors were gorgeous!

    “Coastal Birding”

    Coastal Birding

Remember the picture of Ethan from my last post?
The one with the lighthouse in the background?
This was taken just before that, the morning after
    our visit to San Francisco.

    “Bases Loaded”

    Bases Loaded

This baseball was stuck in a redwood stump,
beside mommyfish’s home  where we stopped
for a quick visit, and a great lunch!

    “Ouch”

    Gas Prices

Back in the days of $2.30 a gallon, California was
    already “raising the bar”.

    Egads.

    “A High Desert Sunrise”

    High Desert Sunset

This photo was taken a few hours after we’d hit the road
from Laguna Beach. Just 45 hours later, we’d roll into
Chattanooga, TN, thoroughly exhausted, but accomplished!

And now, it’s back to work for me… I have a lot of photos
to edit from Saturday’s fashion show in Miami Beach.

Let me know if I can be praying for you, please keep me
in your prayers as well.. I need ‘em!

P.S. Which photo did you like best??

P.P.S. Southern California people… I’m coming to see you too!
    I’ll be in Laguna Beach on the 15th – 18th or 19th… Let’s shoot

  • The coast.  Love them all though.

  • Love the pelicans — such odd birds, but so graceful in flight!

  • I loved in the midst of giants its as if theres a ray of light coming down just for the bikes it was awesome =)

Ill keep you in my prayers hope all your shoots turn out well…although they probably will

  • i loved the trees… gorgeous as usual!

  • I remember that ouch pic. :)

I would love to go to the west coast. Especially northwest. :)

    Do you use macro?

  • Holy crap… where in California did you find $4.39 gasoline? The highest I’ve seen here hasn’t broken $4.

That baseball shot is cool. At that angle, it first looks like a mushroom cap growing out of the bark.

I’ll be in Northern CA on the 15th, but I’ll be back in Irvine on the 16th if you want to meet up… anytime after 5 is good.

  • YES Eric’s coming!!!
I like the desert image best…the colors are soft, even pastel yet rich

  • Dang, and I complain about the gas being 2.99-3.20 in NY!
    Well.
I’d get you gigs but they are mine!!! hahaha

  • The Coast is my fav. But tell me something……..how do you make featured? Just wondering?

  • Love the shot of the bikes among the trees! Have fun in Cali! Take lots of pics! (like you need to be reminded)

  • I love High Desert Sunrise the best.  Those sunrise colors are amazing!  When are you going to be rolling through central Cali???  Don’t forget about us folks stuck here in the middle. lol!!!  Maybe we can at least meet up at a Starbucks for a drink or something as you pass through.

  • Bases Loaded, and Midst of Giants. Cheers for the decent titles, too, love! :D

  • So I found your shots of this beautiful earth we abide on to be quite fantastic! Thank you so much for sharing a small portion of the sheer fantastic views of the planet. It’s pictures like this that spark my hope for humanity, and remind me to stop and soak in the world around me. In any case I really appreciate it, good job -_^

  • The motorcycle one. I’m a sucker for colored clouds.

  • Oh, ‘let’s shoot’, do you mean shoot stuff that says f/2.8 on it, or shoot stuff that says 9mm on it?

  • Giants and bases. Awesome.

  • i loveee your pictures, they’re the greatest . and i like the last one a lot. the sky looks really cool in it..

  • The Coast is my favorite. It reminds me of the days when we’d get up really early and head down to the beach at Manhattan Beach, and watch the fishermen off the pier. It was kind of misty, and too early for all of the Hermosa Beach rowdies to be up! It was so peaceful. Safe travels Eric!

  • Hey, if you’re goin’ to the Bay Area, check out Benicia.  It’s a little town south of Valejo, north of Martinez.

    As usual, awesome pics.

  • That is some damn pricey gasoline right there.

  • HOLY doo doo I hope our gas doesn’t go that high! I will have to start walking. (it probably wouldn’t hurt for me to get some exercise, but, I’d rather not) I like “coastal birding” best. But, they are all beautiful. Hope you have a safe trip and your pictures turn out WONDERFUL…(No need to pray for that, I am sure that they will) Have fun! Will be looking forward to your return to see the photos and hear about your trip! Jenny

  • beautiful pictures! i LOVE the ones of the coast. the pictures that you and broncomom take of the california coastline make me want to visit it for myself so bad!

  • Yay, I’m glad you got a gig in NorCal, the left coast, haha. I love redwoods, I went to a high school called Redwood, haha.

  • Well, I’m excited!  And the gas has only gone down slightly– you prolly didn’t realize that our county held the highest gas prices in CA!  I always head to Costco- only $3.33/gal there- and that’s at least 12 cents less than anywhere else!  You’ll love Sequoia Park– beautiful– wish we had time to give you a tour of Redwood park (the greatest disc golf course ever)!  Looking forward to seeing you soon!  Save travels!

  • my favorite is “the coast”… your pictures are awesome! too bad I am not getting married for a few years I would totally have you as my photographer!

    ~Colleen~

  • “The Coast” is my fav.  i love the “v” shape of the land and how it opens up to the sea.  It draws the eye up to the ships in the distance and makes me wonder what else is out there….

  • Eric: I like them all, but “coastal birding” is really cool! Next time you are heading down hwy1 south of big sur, stop off at julia pfieffer burns state park, and take the trail through the tunnel toward the ocean. it is an amazing space…Ed

  • Seriously I want to see you!!!!!! In-n-out again?

Favorite Photos: A High Desert Sunrise and The Coast

I also want to talk to you on your opinion of cameras and such. My photography friend is shooting her first wedding in a month and she needs a camera but cant decide between a nikon and a cannon.

  • Cosstal Birding!  And haha, good thing bikes are more fuel efficient than cars……lovely gas prices.

And then mirror that mirrored drive, and mirror that one…and that one…

  • Coastal* whoops.

  • Your in my prayers. God speed.

  • Looks like it’ll be lovely (and a good way to assuage some restlessness). Best of luck!

  • I like the first picture with the redwood trees. It’s a huge feeling.

  • really dig that last shot

  • So you still ride motorcycles after your accident.

  • See you soon? How is it supposed to work, are you flying here then flying there? Or flying here and renting a car and then driving there? Have an assisant?

Looove the redwoods, duh, (having just vacationed in the Sequoias lol)
    -Matt-

  • i know people getting married, but airfare to hawaii would vacuum your bank account.

  • In the Midst of Giants is my favorite. You do amazing work. Keep it up and give God the glory.

  • Stunning pics, as always : )

  • RYC im hoping there will be great things but we will have to see!

lovin your photos as usual, my fav is the baseball in the tree…Laguna eh? thats awesome, take lots of pics!!!

  • the left coast, huh? hahaha

  • I would have to say that my favorite photo is the one of the baseball in the tree. They’re all quite nice though!

  • I must be mistaken.  I thought you were in a motorcycle accident about a year ago.

  • YOU are so in trouble! Bri said you think she’s a much better photographer then me! LOL

  • I love “The Coast” the best, I believe. Makes me want to go there and see it in person!

And regarding your comments on certain movies from my list, it looks like we agreed on quite a bit, lol. Awesome.

  • Thank you for the lovely compliments. Flattery will get you anywhere with me.  :)

And I want to get married just so I can have you shoot my wedding. *laugh*

I miss the redwoods. The last time I was there I was ten years old. Give them a good hug for me, okay?

  • I love California! My parents, sisters & I did a month trip along the coast…making our way there. Seen those big trees, amongest other beautiful things. At the time. We took a pine-cone from the park…Only to find out that we weren’t suppose to. This pine-cone is a least a foot long. Maybe more! LOL *sighs* I would love to do another trip like that…hope in a car and just go!

    *hugs*

Have fun!!!! Can’t wait to see those pics!

  • Just visited your photo website. Very, very cool. I love your photos, what I’ve seen of them. Good job. :)

  • I just ate a great burger from wendy’s. its called the baconater..its seriously yummy..oh and i LOVE your pics…awesome!!!

  • Thanks for checking out my blog! Loved the baseball pic and shuddered at the gasoline prices!

  • Hey! You’re always movin’ around everywhere and traveling, you come and visit ME!!!

  • Thanks! and enjoy your visit to the coast, I love it out there :) Let me know when you’re going to be in ATL

  • I love the picture of the coast. I would refer people to you, but no one I know could pay for your travel and other expenses plus your fee! You are in demand though, which–coupled with your work–says it all! I know a couple from our church who is getting married in San Diego July 28th. It’s partly a Cambodian wedding, which I think would be so fascinating to photograph!

  • i love these, except 4 the gas

  • best of luck and best of fun on the shoot!  hope you enjoy the left coast–i am quite partial to it, yes :)

(thank you for your kind words–i’ve yet to fully learn how to fly a kite but in the meantime, i figure it’d be fun to track the progress.  eventually i’ll figure it out and start stringing things together!  cross your fingers)

more importantly, safe travels and may the shutter trip at just the right moments!  looking forward to seeing what you’ll have to share…

  • thanks man! I am so happy for you bro, and I am jealous of your getting to see the redwoods, especially with a good camera!

      Caleb

  • You have the most adventurous life Eric! I love reading about it. You make blogging so much fun. Thanks so much for keeping in touch with us through our blog and for all your kind words. Wow… it’s amazing… life! Isn’t it? Keep in flight… as our dear friend John H. White always says! ~ Dawn
